Portable air conditioners are the ideal way to maintain a cool temperature inside your dwelling. They are a good alternative to window or central air conditioners.Portable A/Cs, as the name suggests, are a type of air conditioner which can be moved about from one place to another.
Portable air conditioners have become a major hit due to having energy efficiency, flexibility, and convenience. They are especially useful for large workplaces and warehouse owners. The portable units can provide services to employees wherever they are seated.
Not every home comes standard with air conditioning. For example, in the Pacific Northwest, a built-in cooling device has never seemed necessary because of the region’s mild weather. That’s why portable air conditioners bridge the gap between a fully air-conditioned house and a totally non-air-conditioned home to keep summer heat manageable. They also reduce the levels of humidity inside your home during the hot, humid summer months. Keeping the heat and humidity under control lessens the chance of allergic reactions or asthma attacks.
Portable air conditioners should not to be confused with window units. Portable components don’t need permanent installation, don’t require holes in the walls and aren’t expensive. Select a window with a close proximity to an electrical outlet because most of the standard vents are 5 feet long. Or you can vent the unit through a wall, ceiling or door. For the sake of simplicity, we’re going to install the portable air conditioner through a window.
Before installing your unit, unpack the portable air conditioner and set it upright for at least two hours so the refrigerant inside settles.
Remove all the parts in the package and make sure you have everything you need before beginning the installation. If any part is missing, including the window slider kit—an attachment to the kit that fits the hose—an exhaust, small screws, a remote control or drainage hose, then call the store or manufacturer and have the omitted part sent to you.
Hook the connectors to the exhaust hose. Usually the hose will rotate straight into place. You should now have an airtight seal. Read more…
