Houston, We Have Good News About The Weather (Apps)!

The 2021 Atlantic hurricane season is predicted to be more active than usual with an increase in the number of storms expected. This 2021 season forecast is above the 30-year average (1991 to 2020) of 14 named storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes. But, Houston now has a new tool to prepare us for the worst weather, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The Space City Weather app should make other Texans jealous

The much-anticipated Space City Weather app launched earlier this week.

There’s a new weather app in town.

And it’s only in H-Town, in fact. The new Space City Weather app launched Thursday and is already charting on the App Store

HURRICANE LARRY?: Hurricanes I am least scared of based on name alone in 2021

The app is the latest offering from the weather blog of the same name, which has been serving Houston since October 2015. Powered by editor Eric Berger and managing editor Matt Lanza, the blog touts “hype-free forecasts” and is the ultimate go-to for Houston weather buffs.

It features the forecast for temperatures and rain chances from the National Weather Service, an embedded weather radar and alerts for severe weather. And yes, it even displays the relative humidity prominently up top.

But its main feature highlights the no-nonsense posts that bring people back time and time again.

Those will now be available on-the-go and in the app, easy to read and more accessible than ever.

Developers Dwight Silverman and Hussain Abbasi pushed through to get the app published just in time for the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, which kicked off June 1.

Silverman wrote a handy how-to guide on the app for new users.

It’s available on both Google Play and the App Store
