Houston, TX – November 19, 2010 – Abacus Plumbing Company, a leading residential and commercial plumbing company in the Houston area, is donating this month’s Abacus Count on Us to Care program to the Montgomery County Food Bank. The donation will help provide meals and assistance to thousands of local residents in need.
“Abacus is dedicated to doing its part to give back to the community and we are privileged to have the opportunity to help provide warm meals to the hungry,” commented Alan O’Neill, president of Abacus Plumbing. “Especially this time of year, people could really use the benefits of knowing they will have food on the table,” he added.
The Montgomery County Food Bank acts as a clearinghouse for edible food items donated and purchased for distribution to charities assisting the poor and victims in crisis. Last year, more than 4.5 million pounds of nutritional food was distributed to those in need or that were experiencing a crisis. The Montgomery County Food Bank warehouses and distributes food to 41 member agencies throughout Montgomery County. The agencies are accountable for food received and distributed and they must qualify as a charitable institution in accordance with Texas laws.
The Abacus “Count on Us to Care Program” was started to provide support to the Houston community. The program was named after the Abacus brand promise of “You Can Count on Us”, which describes the Abacus commitment to offering reliability, professionalism, and integrity in their plumbing business. “We’re very excited to live our motto of ‘You Can Count on Us’ by assisting the outstanding deeds of the Montgomery County Food Bank,” O’Neill reported.
